Western Nebraska Engine Academy

Over the past weekend, the department sent 4 members to the Western Nebraska Engine Academy as part of a task force with our partners on the corridor, including Byers Fire, Bennet Fire, Bennet Highschool Wildland program, and Arapahoe County Sheriffs Wildland team.

The crews spent 2 days, along with crews from 4 other states getting invaluable hands on training under realistic live fire conditions, utilizing various fire contgrol techniques, including working the helicopters from the Nebraska Air National Guard, and a Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) based out of Scottsbluff NE. The crews also got a chance to work on, and in some cases complete task books for various levels of certification in wildland firefighting.

Well done all!
